Hui Hoʻāuhuli began in 2024 as a Youth Leadership group focused on Native education. Our goal in 2025 was to attend the World Indigenous Peoplesʻ Conference on Education in Aotearoa and after a lot fundraising and community support, we were successful. During that time we partnered with other youth groups to focus on the Coolangatta Statement of Native Rights to Education, addressed and testified on the county and state level for and against bills that directly impact our environment, rights, and lives, and started our mālama ʻāina era getting involved with and attending the Bioneers Conference in march 2026. At present, we are focused on environmental issues and conservation as part of Native Youth Leadership Alliance and will be attending the Indigenous Solutions Youth Summit in New Orleans, Louisiana in March of 2027. We continue to sell sustainable items such as ʻohe kāpala blanks, hand-made earrings made from lauhala and coral dust molds, soy ink hand-printed flour sack towels, pots for planting made from recycled cardboard, and more at craft fairs throughout the year.
